Hear what we’ve been up to, vote on executive members, eat pizza that we’ve paid for, stick around for some new problems.
All positions except president are up for nominations this year. If you think you can add value to the climbing community in some way, have a skill that it looks like we need, have cool new ideas you want support for, want to argue during the work day in a private Facebook group, or just want a fancy title for your resume, then put your name forward for a position and bring all your friends to vote for you (friends must be CNS members, but lets be real, if you care enough about climbing to want to be on the executive, you don’t have any normal friends anymore).
If you are considering a place on the ballot, you must be nominated (or nominate yourself) by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with “CNS EXEC NOMINATION” in the subject line. Nominations will be accepted until April 15 2018 at 11:59pm.
Please include your name, the position you are interested in, and a short summary (300 word maximum) of your qualifications and why you want to sit on the board.
Positions and descriptions are as follows, BUT if there’s something you’re really passionate about and don’t see it listed here, don’t worry about it. These titles are mostly just so we have somewhere to slot you on the website:
President – Ensure alignment of CNS activities with organizational goals and funding qualification criterion, draft meeting agendas, chair monthly meetings, delegate tasks, oversee financials, attend events, deal with government stakeholders, website posts, answer emails, other duties as assigned. *Not up for replacement until 2019*

Executive members (with the exception of President) all have a vote in major Climb Nova Scotia undertakings and are expected to exercise their right to vote when called upon. All executive positions are a 1 year term, except for President, which is 2 years in duration.
Executive members are not paid and typically spend up to 5 hours a week on CNS activities when there’s nothing happening, and more when we are busy. President tends to be busier. We can offer you tasty food for meetings, free enrollment in courses that CNS is hosting, subsidized fancy first aid courses or other things you may be interested in, and access to our library of gear (except our nice ice tools, they belong to the president until he abdicates the throne).
Please note, you must be a member in good standing of Climb Nova Scotia to run for a position on the board, and to attend the annual general meeting. You can purchase a membership by clicking here or with cash at the meeting.
If you want to help with CNS but aren’t interested in sitting on the board please let us know. There’s plenty to do and we can always use volunteers for specific projects.
