Second Fork

Crag Description

This severely overhanging series of granite cliffs is located approximately 2.5km northeast of Cape Clear. The cliffs are up to 60 metres high and mostly overhang with very little natural protection (some areas of the cliff are better than others). One route has been established so far on an unusually un-steep section of rock on the upper left tier.

How to get there

Take the same logging road approach as for Cape Clear. About 1.2km before reaching the end of the road, take a short road to the north, Park at its end and bushwhack north for about 1.5km to reach the falls at Second Fork Brook. As you descend towards the brook, the cliffs are easily visible on the other side of the valley.

Climb an easy crack (5.6) until the wall steepens. At this point traverse left (5.8) to belay at the base of an inside corner. Climb the corner to the top (5.6). [Note: this route is located on the upper left tier.]
